An introduction to Beautiful North Devon
The wonderful county of North Devon is situated in the coastal area of South West England, boasting a combination of stunning and spectacular landscapes with over 171 sq km of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its dramatic, rugged coastline embraces awe-inspiring cliffs; hidden coves and golden beaches, all sprinkled with areas of wild moorland; glistening valleys and lush rolling pastures.
This spectacular place has so many things to see and do and is the ideal setting, whether it's for a holiday, quiet retreat or an escape from everyday life. It combines a stunning coastline, with sandy beaches, such as Woolacombe, Croyde, Saunton Sands and Westward Ho! to the more dramatic, rugged shorelines of Hartland and Spekes Mills. There are quaint towns and villages to explore all interspersed amongst unspoilt landscape and small harbours to visit, such as Clovelly which are are steeped in history and atmosphere. With a wealth of beauty and interest there is nowhere quite like North Devon.
For me the North Devon coastline exudes a powerful magnetism and sense of romantic mysticism, stretching from the glorious heathland of Exmoor to the rocky headlands of Welcombe. An amazing journey that takes us to the most spectacular beaches which are unspoilt and studded with their own distinct character and breathtaking views. The power and strength of the sea and the continual pounding of the elements provides an ever-changing myriad of new structural forms and scenic beauty, which totally inspires me, and which I am compelled to capture and share with you.
Each picture tells a story, conveying mood and emotion, and one which I hope will create an image in your mind of the exquisite opportunities and adventures this unspoilt landscape has to offer.
